The people and places in Haiti that have captured our hearts and souls have been decimated by Hurricane Matthew. The death toll is now over 1000, with over 1 million people in desperate need of humanitarian aid. Cholera is a pressing threat to our Haitian friends who are without clean water, basic sanitation, shelter, safety, etc.

Over the years, Heart and Sol has been passionate about empowering our friends in Haiti through solar power.  The work we have done to provide solar power and train Haitians in that trade has helped many clinics, missions, orphanages and villages.

The collaborative efforts of so many tremendous Haitian community leaders and incredible organizations, like Heart and Sol, were having an immensely positive effect in Southwest Haiti. Unfortunately this area was in the direct path of Hurricane Matthew, leaving it 80-90% destroyed.

Mark (the Sol of Heart and Sol), is our solar expert and is on his way to Haiti in a collaborative, emergency effort to help restore the crucial solar power systems to provide Haitians with immediate access to clean water, food, refrigeration and medical resources. We believe this will help:
  • provide people with short-term basic survival needs,
  • mitigate the effects of the pending Cholera outbreak,
  • ease the rising tensions among those who are struggling for basic resources,
  • us to connect with our Haitian friends and get a clear assessment of how Heart and Sol can help with any long-term needs they might have in the aftermath of this crisis.
It is extremely important to us to keep our donors involved and engaged. It is our goal to make sure that everyone who donates feels connected to the people and the projects that they are helping to fund. We believe that these personal connections are essential to the healing potential of our work. As a donor you will receive blog updates, videos, photos, interviews with our Haitian friends, etc...

Note:  All funding goes through our 501(c)(3) partner, New Beginnings Resources. Every penny donated goes straight to the relief efforts.
